Veterinary Science

The first step to a great future

Vet TechThe Veterinary Science program gives students insight the field and provides them with a head start into a competitive college program. Students will learn about both large and small animals to give achieve a well-rounded experience. This is helpful when making the decision as to which area of veterinary science to pursue. Many students will go on a two- or four-year college with the goal of becoming a Veterinary Technician or a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
 
The Veterinary Science program has a strong focus on science covering anatomy, physiology, nutrition and health concepts.  Preparation for a veterinary career requires rigorous science courses beyond Biology l and Chemistry l. Admission into college programs is very competitive.
 
Upper Valley Career Center Veterinary Science students are provided skills and experience through classroom work, on-site clinic laboratory and job shadowing. The program emphasizes hands-on learning working with high-tech equipment.
