The Career Development program is again available at Upper Valley Career Center.
Upper Valley Career Center responds to the immediate need for skilled machinists with Manufacturing 101
a new accelerated and customizable Adult/Post Secondary Education option. The training package features
many components of the school’s full-time Machine program with some radical departures including an entry
level job and the potential of wages for program participants. Manufacturing 101 operates during the daytime
and includes a working relationship and on the job experience with the student’s future employer. The cost of
participation is covered by the employer and the student/employee receives an hourly wage for their time
spent in training and on the job.
The Manufacturing 101 program opens a pipeline to capable personnel who are trained and ready to begin
in just a few weeks.” The full program may be completed in just 10 weeks and includes three levels.
During Level One the student’s’ full time job is to attend daytime classes. As their skills develop they will
split their time between training working in the production facility.
Tuition may be covered by State or Federal funding. Additionally up to 50% of participant’s wages during
the training period may be covered by the National Emergency Grant. Employers will have the opportunity
to screen program applicants to sponsor prospective employees. Employers appreciate the opportunity to
screen candidates prior to beginning the training and throughout the 12-week period.
Partnering with Upper Valley Career Center are Job and Family Services, The Dayton Tooling &
Manufacturing Association, United States Department of Development, and participating manufacturers.
The minimum required to operate Manufacturing 101 is ten students.
