Our Upper Valley Career Center Practical Nursing faculty is comprised of highly caring and qualified registered nurses. All nursing instructors are licensed by the state of Ohio Board of Nursing and are certified by the State Department of Education.

An articulation agreement is in place with Edison Community College. Nursing Program Enrollment Qualifications

  1.  Graduate from a State Department of Education approved high school or have a GED.
  2.  Pass required standards on pre-entrance test which evaluates math, science, and reading skills. 
  3.  Meet with Program Administrative Representative for an interview after passing the pre-entrance test.
  4.  Reference letters, transcripts, and medical forms will be required after the interview process.
  5. The Admission Committee will meet to review applicant’s files upon completion of the above entrance requirements.

Employment Opportunities


Licensed Practical Nurses care for ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled persons in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. Licensing required.

The pay scale can vary based on the career application and length of experience. According to the Ohio Occupational Wages & Employment the Median wage for Licensed Practical Nurses in the State of Ohio during 2006 was $37,400 with 90% earning in the range of $47,100
