Teacher Academy

The Teacher Academy is a senior-only program designed for students planning to major in teacher education in college. Academy students meet for two and one-half hours each day in class or internships.

The academy includes the following components:

  • Course instruction in child and adolescent development, learning theory, teaching techniques, and classroom management
  • Observation and participation hours three days per week at area elementary, middle, and high schools.
  • Partnership with a college that will provide a pathway from high school to college and the teacher education field with possible credit granted
  • Active participation in FEA (Future Educators Association)
  • Development of a professional portfolio and documentation of achievement and experiences
