Closing and Delay Procedures

 

For Weather, Follow your Home School

If the associate school is delayed or closed because of extreme weather, the student will not be counted absent from the Upper Valley Career Center during the time the associate school is delayed or closed.
 

Notification

An automated calling system will be activated to alert students to delays and closings for Upper Valley Career Center. Local media outlets announcing area school closings will also report Upper Valley Career Center delays and closings. 

Delays & Cancellations

  • If the associate school is on a ONE-HOUR DELAY, the student is to arrive at the Upper Valley Career Center by 9:23 a.m. 

  • If the associate school is on a TWO-HOUR DELAY, the student is to arrive at the Upper Valley Career Center by 10:23. Students are to report to their regularly scheduled classes upon arrival regardless of the time. 

  • If the associate school is CLOSED and the Upper Valley Career Center is open, the students may attend classes, if they have consulted with parents and can provide their own transportation. 


FAQs

Q: If my home school has a scheduled day off for parent teacher conferences, holidays, or teacher in-services do I need to attend UVCC?

A: Yes, you are required to follow the UVCC schedule for regularly scheduled days.


Q: If my home school is cancelled after the fifth calamity day, do I have to do the remote learning assignments?

A: Yes, if your home school is cancelled for in-person learning, but has implemented e-learning or remote instruction, you are required to participate in UVCC remote learning lessons given by your instructors.  


Q: If my home school closes due to inclimate weather do I need to attend UVCC?

A: No, you are not required to come in. The student may choose to attend classes, if they have consulted with a parent/guardian and can provide their own transportation.


Q. What if I do not have internet access

A. Contact your CT instructor or the front office at UVCC to gain access to a mifi device.


Q. Where do I find my assignments

A. Use your laptop to access your school email as well as your Google Classrooms for information from your instructors.


Q. How is attendance handled for UVCC remote learning days?

A. Instructors will take attendance based upon participation in each class. If an instructor doesn’t receive any work from a student, a remote-unexcused absence will be issued.
